Description
Mobile Radiation Protection Barrierwith Leaded Acrylic Window Fluke X-Ray Shielding Clear Pb
This barrier is a portable, full-body radiation barrier for protection against secondary radiation. Though it is specifically designed for shielding in confined spaces and areas with smaller footprints, it can be used anywhere that x-ray protection is needed.
Anesthesia healthcare providers generally remain in close proximity to the patient for easy monitoring and administration of anesthesia. With limited space to work in, a special barrier is needed to easily maneuver in and out of tight spots. In fact, innovative designed barriers provide ideal radiation protection in virtually every type of setting.
Features:
0.5mm lead equivalent lighter weight leaded acrylic window
2.0mm lead equivalent opaque panels of solid, leaded x-ray protection with contoured sides
Large 24" H x 30" W acrylic window for easy viewing
Travels easily on a four caster locking base steel legs
It is recommended that two people move the barrier together at all times

Applications
:
Ideal for use in Operating Rooms, Special Procedure Suites and Cardiac Cath Labs. The Stainless Steel Hardware Mobile Barriers are the perfect fit in any imaging room due to their 30 inch width and easy maneuverability.
The American Association of Physicists in Medicine
no longer supports shielding patients’
reproductive organs and fetuses during imaging studies that use radiation, such as X-rays and CT scans.
There are two important exceptions to changing the practice of shielding.
First, it still applies to providers.
“Health care professionals who regularly use radiation, such as radiologic technologists or surgeons, have a higher rate of exposure day in and day out than a single patient undergoing an imaging study,”
says Jennifer O’Riorden, director of health physics and radiation safety officer at Lahey Medical Center in Burlington, Mass.
Second, shielding should be used if or when it offers patients a psychological benefit.
Some patients may be nervous if their provider doesn’t automatically shield them during an X-ray or CT or nuclear imaging scan. Rebecca Marsh, a medical physicist and author of the journal article that served as the framework for the American Association of Physicists in Medicine statement, suggests that providers should talk with their patients about the risks of shielding but still make the professional decision to shield if the comfort it provides outweighs the risks.
