Taylor Smith & Taylor Classic Shape Yellow Sunburst Plate and Saucer .
In the 1950s designer John Gilkes created a formal dinnerware line for Taylor Smith Taylor as an alternative to the more casual style of Versatile. The line's shape was distinguished by wide rims and footed hollowware, and is called "Classic". Some patterns are two toned with gold or platinum accents. Silver-Blue was a beautiful aqua and white with platinum accents, Heritage-Green was done in celadon and white with gold accents and Sunburst was manufactured in Yellow and White with Gold accents. The hollowware was then used with other TST patterns such as Dwarf Pine.
On my Ebay Store for your interest is a yellow banded dinner plate and Saucer in the Sunburst yellow color and Classic shape without accent trim. They are in what appears to be in very good condition. There are no chips, cracks or crazing and the glaze is even and smooth. White is a lovely creamy color and the yellow is exquisite. Plates measure a generous 10 3/8 inches across with backmarks that detail maker and pattern. Beautifully designed and a classic in every way.
