This beautiful Taylor Smith Taylor platter is 13 1/4 inches long and about 9 1/2 inches wide. It is beige with a gilt edge and gilt inner rim. The rim of the platter has a repeating stylized scroll pattern in gold. The platter is in very good condition, and has no cracks or chips. There are some very tiny (less than 1/16 inch) imperfections in the front face, and some tiny marks on the back. See photos.
Taylor, Smith & Taylor company was in operation from 1900 to 1981 in Chester, West Virginia.
J. Palin Thorley, Walter Teague, and John Gilkes designed most shapes used by TS&T from the 1930s until the early 1960s. Thorley was responsible for many of the pieces made in the 1930s including the Empire shape.
This platter has an Empire shape, and given the stylized scroll pattern, I'm guessing it was made in the 1930's.
